Making several round trips to get hay can be bothersome. larry brumfield teaches how to build a hay wagon to cut down that time spent on multiple trips. sooner or later, most folks who put up more. If i was building a hay wagon though i would probably use stringers with less depth than the 2x12's i used. maybe laminated 2x8's then use 4x4's perpendicular to that and run my t&g 2x6's lengthwise and perpendicular to the 4x4's which would also make them parallel with the stringers.. Re: building hay wagon rack in reply to gary schafer, 06-22-2007 20:24:58 if your going to lay them flat you could do it two ways one would be to screw them to the top of the stringers or bolt an angle iron to the side of the stringers and then bolt the cross pieces to the angle..
